I’ve been a fan of Thor as a kid - the comic books & the cartoon show, especially the cartoon show (The Mighty Thor).
Sing it with me: Across the rainbow bridge of Asgard, Where the booming heavens roar - Ker-ack!
Anyhoodles, it was exciting news to me when Thor was in the spotlight at the SF Comic Convention last year (Thor: Ages of Thunder) with the release of an exclusive action figure & a publication! Then came an animated movie about a month ago (Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers) & finally, mere days from now - the motion picture!
It’s about time I put Thor on ink & paper. Here’s a preliminary sketch. Sorry, the head’s a bit misshapen - I drew this lying down - still, it’s a start!
Wherever your theological compass points, you will agree that this is the coolest action figure since G.I. Joe.
This 5-1/4” tall, hard vinyl figure comes with eight amazing plastic accessories: five loaves of bread, two fish and a jug for turning water into wine (not guaranteed to work for real). Also features ”glow-in-the-dark miracle hands!”
Did I ever tell you I was a doll collector? I collect fashion dolls and action figures, mostly 1/6 or 12 inches in size and ball-jointed.
Late last year, a week before Christmas, I was lucky enough to find a boxed Wild Western Kelly online! She is 1 in a series of 4 figures. These excellent ball-jointed action figures were produced/assembled in very limited numbers by Twilight Magic Works and distributed by Yamato.
I like to fully enjoy my dolls so, I customize them to a certain specific look that I want to achieve.
Kelly had perfectly tailored clothes on but her hair was a mess. So, I gave her a haircut, after Jennifer Aniston’s famous do on the sitcom, Friends. Don’t believe me? Check out the transformation photos!

This photo is credited to Michael Crawford, from his review of the Twilight Magic Works and Yamato 1/6 action figures. I highly recommend that you read his detailed review about these dolls if you want to know more about them.
I am quite happy with how it turned out but the hair still appears too fluffy and big. Plus, around the back, it’s quite stiff - looks dead/damaged. So, I’m not yet done with this makeover. I’ll be blow-drying and curling it soon! I’ll be sure to write about it then!
