The new DC Comics “Peel-Off” logo was obviously created for DIGITAL interests as it can be animated so that the “D” reveals the “C”. But if in PRINT, should I be seeing an optical illusion?
The ORIGINAL logo - beautiful! There’s dynamism behind the whole design - it’s exciting! The font is tilted, so it gives off a feel of action. The star/comet gives the impression of it spinning round, also reminds us of Wonder Woman’s star. Color is blue, very engaging & hip. Finally, it spells out DC clear as day!
The NEW logo - without “DC Comics” text underneath, it’s difficult to see/read what it actually stands for. There’s nothing interesting about it other than me wanting to peel-off that thing. BORING, you get a kick out of it a few times but it gets old after a while. The font looks heavy, as if it’s standing stock-still, so not what comics is about. But we’ll see, there might still be another surprise behind it that DC has yet to reveal, hey?
Every fashionista would want to own any one of these excellent creations. Williams British Handmade has outdone itself yet again! I don’t think I’ve every seen such exquisite leather craftsmanship!
Williams luggage is a marriage of the old and new. They’ve successfully combined traditional leather craftsmanship with contemporary design!
The Pivot Desk by Raw-Edges’ Shay Alkalay is a new addition to his line for Arco. The Pivot line started in 2008 with the Pivot cabinet & now its family has grown. The drawers are hinged together, which means they open with just one tug. You don’t have to open one drawer one after another if you’re looking for something! Great for small spaces, hotel lobbies, or living rooms. Great for small spaces, hotel lobbies, or living rooms. It’s great for small spaces, lobbies & living rooms!

Lima de Lezando of the New Light Stage created a limited 300 units of her futuristic Black Furore Lamp. To me, this lamp looks like an output of Darth Vader getting into an artsy-craftsy designing mood - but in a good way!

Geoffrey Bradfield created Louis in Extremis as homage to the great couturier, Alexander McQueen, who just recently passed away. Both French chairs are upholstered in contrasting hot pink & ivory hides to create the image of a skull. This is quite a combination of awesome!!!
Designers Hyunjin Seo, Jaekyoung Kim & Jaehoon Jung of KAMKAM (located in Seoul, Korea) unveiled their contemporary set of “Dressed-Up Furniture”. The colors are playful & the upholstery textures are very reminiscent of fuzzy warm sweaters, coats & blankets.
The idea is to combine clothing & furniture, making the pieces soft, inviting & functional.
The storage spaces &/or cubby holes in each piece of furniture use unorthodox belts, buttons & fasteners inspired from clothing instead of orthodox hinges & handles.
Standard Stationery created by David Weatherhead is a family of stationery products that celebrate everyday office & administration tasks, referencing drafting methodology, standard paper sizes & color theory.
The line consists of the C6 Letter Rack, Super Long Pencil Placer, A4 Angled Paper Placer, Sketch Bookend, Half-time Clock & Hello Sunshine Letter Rack, a variation of the initial letter rack design.
The simplistic collective design of basic colors & basic shapes sure doesn’t come short of functionality! Less is more, I say!
